Days of HYGIENe
We are pleased to invite you to the 10th, anniversary conference “Days of Hygiene”. It has been 20 years since we started to meet and discuss the most important issues from IP prevention area, healthcare hygiene, patient and personnel safety.
We want to familiarize our guests with the latest norms, trends and solutions in the abovementioned areas. We will discuss the most prominent threats in the contemporary hospitals, especially related to infection prevention and ways to overcome them.
The lecturers we will have honor to give you, are the authorities from Poland and abroad, well-recognized experts, with experience in microbiology, hygiene, IP areas.

Dr. Bernhard Meyer
For many years Dr. Bernhard Meyer has been a Microbiological Support Manager, now Senior Scientist at Ecolab’s R&D Department, which is located in Monheim am Rhein. The scope of the R&D work encompasses Europe, the Middle East and Africa. After studying biology at the University of Bonn, Germany, Dr. Meyer specialized in microbiology, obtaining a doctorate. Before taking up the current job, he worked in a number of positions concerned with microbiology, hygiene and infection control, which altogether brought in more than 25 years of professional experience. Among others, he was a leader of the Product Development Program at Healthcare R&D Department. In the years 1992-2009 he was a lecturer at the Academy of Public Health in Düsseldorf. Dr. Meyer is a member of the Disinfectant Test Methods Committee at the Society of Applied Hygiene in Germany. He has also written more than 20 peer-reviewed academic articles and book chapters on hygiene, microbiology and disinfection.
Dr. Meyer’s interests are infection control in health care settings, with special emphasis placed on hand hygiene, instrument preparation, environmental hygiene, as well as disinfectants and antiseptics and their impact on human health.
PD Dr. Dr. Friedrich v. Rheinbaben
Studied Biology at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhems University in Bonn/Germany, where he also made his PhD in Human Virology and Microbiology. In 1987 he joined the company Henkel KGaA, where he built up the virology department. In 1999 he obtained his postdoctoral qualification (Habilitation) from the University of Witten/Herdecke in Germany. Since 2000 he worked for Ecolab Company in Germany as Technical manager for Microbiology/Virology and Hygiene in the Research and Development Department until 2011. Today dr. v. Rheinbaben is a technical Manager microbiology an virology for the HygCen laboratory Group Schwerin (Germany)/Bischofshofen (Austria)/Ankara (Turkey). His key issues are hospital, institutional, textile, veterinary and food hygiene.
Dr. Jürgen Gebel
In 1992 Dr. Gebel graduated from the Department of Biology at the University of Bonn. Since 1993 he has been a research associate (microbiologist) at the Institute of Hygiene and Public Health, where he took his doctorate in 1998.
In 1996 he became an Executive Manager of the Disinfectant Commission at the German Society for Hygiene and Microbiology (DGHM), and since 2004 he has also served as an Executive Manager of the Disinfectant Commission at the Association for Applied Hygiene (VAH). Apart from these capacities he also acts as a chair of CEN TC 216 Committee (Chemical Disinfectants and Antiseptics) Working Group 1 (Human Medicine). Dr. Jürgen Gebel is a vice convener at the Medical Standards Committee NAMed D7 for DIN, a member of the Coordinating Ring Test Group and Sporocidal Products Task Group at CEN TC 216, as well as an editor-in-chief of Infection Control and Healthcare (Hygiene and Medicine). His main interests are disinfectant testing, biodosimetry, UV disinfection, biofilm research as well as hygiene tips for kids.
